We took the train from the airport into the city and Mark (even though he slept for 2-3 hours) was so disoriented I had to keep things in check. We finally made it to the hotel and the desk clerk spoke to him and it went right over his head! Anyway, we got checked into a larger room for a few more Euros and we both took a shower and headed back out. We are staying at the Golden Tulip Inn just a few minutes walk from the Centraal Stration. Nice room, ammenities, and free wireless internet. We decided to go see if the line at the Anne Frank Huis was OK, and it wasn't bad!
The Anne Frank Huis: It has been a dream of mine to see the house for many years. It is an something that everyone in this world should experience. 8 people hid in an area so SMALL that you can not imagine! I've read about it, seen the movies but you really don't realise untill you have been there. In addition, Shelly Winters Oscar for "Best Supporting Actress" is there. I've never seen one! It is a very moving and emotional experience to be where they all lived. I am grateful that I was so tired that it kept me from being so emotional. Again, EVERYONE should take time out of their life to go.
The Anne Frank House.
After the Anne Frank Huis we ran across a chocolate shop (Puccuni) and we picked up a few goodies to take with us. mmmmmmmmmm!!!
After we walked backed towards the hotel for a while, we stopped and got a bite to eat at a small sandwhich shop, then headed to a Brown Cafe next to our hotel for a couple of beers. Pat had a nice blond 7.5% beer, and Mark had a Treffel Duppel (A local Dutch 7% dark beer). While in the bar we had a nice conversation with a British couple (they hate Tony Blair, not to mention another politician currently in office in the USA)! They were an older couple and she was extremely anti-German and wouldn't even drink German beers! It's nice to see what people in other countries think of what's going on in the world. Not to mention that Mark and I agreed with many of their thoughts. Seems many of the financial problems we are having have rolled into the U.K. too! Imagine that?
Well, we are headed for bed. Much too tired for anything else. Hope all is well. Hope my doggies are doing fine!

Hi Pat and Mark,
I hope I am doing this blogging correctly and you get this.
Glad to hear you arrived safely in Amsterdam and enjoyed your flight.
Pat, I am happy that you finally realized your dream of visiting the Anne Frank house. Is it everything you thought it would be? My impressions when I was there were of how small it is. You can't imagine it until you are there and see for yourself. I was also impressed by how solemn and quiet everyone is as they walk through the rooms. Did you find this to be the case? Did you see her tree?
Stay safe and have fun!
Love,
Gina
P.S. I worked today!
