Berlin Tag elf und zwolf

Our loft in Berlin. The architecture is very modern.

Hello Everyone:

I am a day behind in writing the blog, as I had to take a "krankheitstag" (a sick day)! I was just so worn out after all the traveling and running around that my body said stop!

We got settled in our new Berlin apartment, it is very modern and is in a loft style. We did go out to eat last night at a great Italian Restaurant that our loft recommended. We had a bottle of wine that we have not seen for the last three years, as we have been unable to find it in the US. When we traveled to Italy we brought back a case of Castle Brolio Chianti and ran out of it in 2005. Mark had ravioli stuffed with ricotta cheese and truffels grated over it, right in front of him. The waiter asked if we were from the USA (in German, sounds like USR) and I said yes-he gave Mark some extra truffels! I had ente (duck) cooked with espresso and curry, it was all delicious. Back to the loft and we both hit the sack.

Tag zwolf:
Ich bin heute krank (I am sick today!). I got up and just wasn't doing well, my nose is soooooo dry and bleeding and I just feel like shit! We did manage to go grocery shopping (always fun in a different country!), and got our laundry done. I found the dryer here interesting, as it does not exhaust! It had a condensor that water collected in and you could empty after a load or two. Talk about hot - wow! We partially dryed the clothes because I didn't want to bake them to death, aber alles gut kam hervor (but all came out well).

Earlier, Mark ventured out on his own while I was in bed and found a teller machine (Geldautomat) so we could withdraw cash to pay our bill (If paying by credit card = 5% of total added on to bill-$75!). But he had an adventure as the first bank sent him down the street links (left), then rechts (right) and no teller machine. He walked back and found that it was just across the street - who says the Germans don't have a sense of humor!

When he got back I cooked pasta and mixed it with butter, garlic, olive oil and pesto - yum! After that I hit the sack and slept till 8am today. Mark stayed up doing his research for morgen till late.

Gutta Nacht,
Pat and Mark

Hi,

Sorry you were sick.. Maybe it was the altitude.

Did they send Mark on a wild goose chase on purpose? :)
